This tour is ideal for adventurers and history and nature lovers who enjoy out of the ordinary experiences. It is a fully, 100% eco-friendly circuit as it does not require to take domestic flights. Indeed, means of transportation only consist in ground transportation and inland navigation.
From Bogota, the country’s capital city, the tour will first lead you to the colonial province with its national heritage-listed villages, before setting sail for a 6h trip on the Magdalena river in spacious and comfortable ships that will take you back to ancient times, when canoes, and later steamboats, used to navigate the river.
This tour was inspired by 1982 Colombian Nobel prize winning author Gabriel García Márquez’s novel “Love in the time of cholera”. It goes through the wonderful city of Mompox before coming to an end in the country’s most famous tropical city, Cartagena, the golden pearl of Colombia.
